The Indian Institute of Mass Communication centers located at Delhi and Dhenkanal, Odisha has been granted deemed university status. Last year, the HRD Ministry had recommended their elevation to UGC. The Commission allowed the status after its commitee visited both campuses recently. Just to add Indian Institute of Mass Communication is the premier Government institite to imart education in journalism. One of its center was set up in Dhenkanal, Odisha in the year 1993 thanks to the effort of erstwhile Information and Broadcasting Minister K P Singh Deo.
